The Establishment of

True Vine Ministries Inc.

In 1989 while as a delivery driver for United Parcel Service in the Arlington area of Jacksonville, FL., as a young minister, James Byrd began scouting the area for a place to conduct bible study on Wednesdays. After finding a location, he began bible studies at Abbington Square Apartment Clubhouse during the summer months.

With a great vision and his family under the leadership of District Elder George Matthews and his father in the gospel, Elder Harry Johnson, his ministry began to develop and take shape.  On the third Sunday of March 1990 the fellowship moved to an office complex on Townsend Blvd., where the first official worship service took place under the name Arlington Mission Church of God By Faith.

In 1993 the church moved from the office building to a convenient store which was converted into a place of worship on the same property. Minister Byrd resigned from the organization to pursue an independent fellowship with a new direction and a new name, True Vine Ministries, Inc. in November of 1995.

The Lord blessed True Vine Ministries in February of 1997 with its current location on the westside of the city in the Murray Hill area. The ministry operated as a hub for the youth in Murray Hill and surrounding neighbors.  The church provided, football, basketball and cheer-leading teams from 2000-2002 and a Child Care Center operated by Lady Siteria Byrd as Director from 2002-2013.

In 2011 Minister Byrd and the True Vine church family applied for reinstatement with the Church of God By Faith Organization, and with the governing board’s approval, True Vine Ministries, Inc. was welcomed back at the Atlanta Convention.
